Anxiety! You’re not Alone

When faced with a difficult situation – an impending exam, doing a speech before an audience,  a performance discussion with your boss,  waiting for your daughter to come home when it’s late, etc., most of us experience feelings of emotional or physical unease. These are perfectly reasonable responses to stressful life situations, and we’re are naturally endowed with the ability to cope with such everyday stress. However, if these uncomfortable feelings occur during regular days, for an extended period of time and often in extreme ways, then you may be suffering from an Anxiety Disorder.

Anxiety Disorder is when feelings of fear, worry, and great discomfort are overactivated in mind often with accompanying physical symptoms such as trembling, sweating, heart palpitations, headache, etc. that you are not able to effectively cope with or you feel helpless or hopeless about it.

Living with Anxiety

If you are suffering from anxiety, you know just how difficult it can be to live your life. Tasks that once seemed comfortable may feel extremely difficult to do. Often you’re in a constant state of unease finding it difficult for you to live a “normal life.” Some people start feeling ashamed thinking they’re letting their friends and loved ones down because they are not able to be as reliable as they should be. Some people withdraw into themselves instead of reaching out for help. This may result in making the anxiety worse.

Anxiety at its peak

If your anxiety problem is causing you to miss school or work, or causing you to lose friendships by avoiding social situations, robbing you of things that were once very important to you, then your Anxiety is probably at its peak.

Knowing a crucial fact about anxiety is very important. And that fact is: You are not alone. Anxiety is a real medical problem faced by millions, and it can be treated!. You don’t have to face your anxiety problems alone. The sooner you come to terms with the fact that it is normal to suffer from anxiety the swifter you are on your road to recovery.  Anxiety disorders are among one of the most prevalent mental, emotional and behavioral problems in the world estimated to affect 3.6% of the global population as of 2015, or about 264 million people, according to WHO figures. It is highly likely that many more people have anxiety issues that have gone undiagnosed.

People start to notice their anxiety problems more once they have begun to impact their everyday life. Anxiety may cause you to be far less productive than you usually are. This can be something simple like not having the energy to clean your house. Some people also have problems with maintaining their motivation to do work, causing them to fall behind and miss important deadlines.

Anxiety has the potential to be very mentally and physically draining. If you are having a severe bout of Anxiety, then it can be challenging to focus on anything. You may understand that you need to perform a specific task, but you just don’t feel like you are capable of doing it. Sometimes even the knowledge that you are falling behind in certain aspects of life will cause the anxiety to worsen. This is a vicious cycle that can feel like it is holding you back from being successful.

One of the worst aspects of Anxiety is that you wind up feeling guilty about it too. You see the problems start to pile up and you feel powerless to take action to improve your situation. If your anxiety symptoms are harming your life in any of these ways, then you shouldn’t try to face this condition all by yourself.

When anxiety is starting to alter your everyday life severely, it is best to seek out help. Having friends and family who understand you can be a massive boon. Professionals will be able to assist you in treating your anxiety disorder if you choose to reach out as well. It is very taxing to deal with severe Anxiety disorder alone, and it may hurt you more if you don’t seek treatment.

Great treatment options are available to help people manage their symptoms of anxiety, but under forty percent of the people who suffer from anxiety choose to seek treatment. This has caused Anxiety to become a real detriment to their well-being.
