    Why Counselling?

    Each year, 60 Million Indians suffer from mental health issues. The suicide statistics are alarming too: – 130,000 Indians commit suicide every year. Timely access to a counsellor can make all the difference in their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

    Why You?

    In therapeutic counselling, trust is key. And while competence gained from qualifications and experience are extremely important for the building of trust, the lived example we lead is equally important. Therefore, at Saarathi it is not only necessary to have the necessary qualifications and experience but it is also equally important to commit to embody values of congruence, empathy, unconditional positive regard and lifelong learning. If this describes you or the individual you strive to be, you are welcome to apply. 


    You need to have a Masters Degree in Psychology from a recognized University


    You need to have completed the 8 Hour Introduction to Mental Health Course from MHAT 

    You need to have completed the 30 Day Internship in Mental Health from MHAT 

    You need to have completed the 4 Week Counselling Skills Course from Saarathi  

    Have 6 Months of Supervision based Counselling Experience from MHAT

    What is the Process of Joining?

    Step 1:  Ensure that you meet the above criteria

    Step 2: In case you need to complete any of the courses, register for the courses in next batch

    Step 3: After Steps 1 and 3 are completed, you can apply here to be a counsllor with Saarathi

    Step 4: You will be put on a Six Month, supervision based counselling practice


    Step 5: Once you finish your six months of supervised practice, you will be assessed and based on your performance, you will be  recommended to be a counsellor on the platform by MHAT


    Note: Trainings and Supervision will have an investment, a part of which will go to support MHAT’s mission to offer recovery oriented mental health care for the poorest of the poor.
